Community land trusts are a powerful tool for advancing housing rights, land stewardship, and collective ownership—especially in contexts of informality and urban inequality. This global learning session will explore the innovative CLT work happening in Brazil, led by Catalytic Communities through the Favela CLT Project.
Whether you’re a policymaker, planner, advocate, or simply curious about CLTs and community-led development on collectively owned land in the Global South, this session offers an opportunity to learn from on-the-ground organizers who are shaping a uniquely Latin American approach to community ownership. The conversation will also reflect on how Brazil’s efforts have been informed by the pioneering CLT experience in Puerto Rico.
This event has been organized on the occasion of World CLT Day 2025 by Catalytic Communities in collaboration with the International Center for Community Land Trusts. There will also be time for audience Q&A to engage directly with the presenters.
The event will be held in English, with AI-powered live captions offering automated translation in your preferred language.
